Established in 1997, Whyte Construction is a modern Christchurch based company which embraces the latest technologies, materials and building techniques yet adheres faithfully to traditional values of true trade craftsmanship, integrity and accountability. Our philosophy focuses on delivering high quality projects on time and on budget across a diverse range of building sectors - residential, commercial and retail.

Driven and coordinated by a trade-qualified Management Team and backed by highly skilled builders who offer a vast level of hands-on practical knowledge, experience and professionalism, our company has earned an enviable reputation for consistent client satisfaction. In fact, the standard of customer service we offer is virtually incomparable within the industry and our absolute attention to detail guarantees the best of results. Understandably, this has resulted in a high volume of repeat business, particularly in commercial work.

Here at Whyte Construction we have a good stable team of trade qualified builders, and work closely with our sub-contractors. We have a specialist exterior cladding team that is experienced and knowledgeable in cladding products and systems. We also work very closely with a range of architects, geotechnical and structural engineers.

Whyte Construction is a member of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand, the Registered Master Builders Association of New Zealand Inc, Site Safe and also the New Zealand Retail Interior Association.

Health and Safety Policy Statement


Whyte Construction Limited is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace to ensure that our employees, contractors, sub-contractors, clients and public are kept safe. Our goal is to eliminate all injuries, accidents and incidents, while recording and controlling all hazards that come from near miss reporting.

To achieve this goal we make safety a priority on all of our sites and jobs and we require active participation by everyone in our business to adequately plan the work we are carrying out and to act safely at all times.

We will:
  1. Plan ahead to systematically identify and control all hazards in our workplace and ensure our employees have the correct plant and skills needed to work safely and control these hazards.
  2. Involve our employees, contractors and sub-contractors in safety activities.
  3. Induct and train our employees to recognise and control hazards and encourage them to participate in regular safety meetings.
  4. Monitor our workplace to ensure our planned controls are being instigated and are effective.
  5. Supervise our employees, contractors and sub-contractors to ensure they are acting/working in a safe manner and adjust activities if they are likely to cause harm.
  6. Record and investigate all incidents and accidents in our workplace and take appropriate action to prevent recurrence, this includes widespread communications, internal and to contractors.
  7. Develop and implement emergency and evacuation procedures and regularly review them.
  8. Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained and safe to use.
  9. Ensure our employees are provided with appropriate protective equipment (PPE).
It is our policy to take all practicable steps to comply with provisions of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, Accident Compensation Act 2001 and all Codes of Practice and Guidelines applying to the business. The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 was reviewed and substantially amended in 2002.
