Introduction

The focus of this NZLS CLE Ltd webinar is risk management for boards. All business is risk, it is how much risk, and how it is managed, which is the issue for boards and those advising them.

Risk management is a subset of corporate governance. Good risk management is part of good corporate governance; and corporate governance is about much more than corporate law, or legal compliance. So before commenting specifically about risk and risk management, I begin with some comments about corporate governance generally. I will then address some specific aspects of risk management and its legal framework.
