Presentation time: 90 minutesWhat are the consequences when Benjamin Franklin’s two certainties in life, death and taxes, coincide?
With families spread across the world more and more, beneficiaries and executors will increasingly encounter complex tax issues depending on where the beneficiary or deceased person resides. New Zealand abolished estate tax in 1991 but it and variations such as United Kingdom inheritance tax are still prevalent elsewhere.
Cross-border taxes for deceased estates can be a complicated issue and it is likely that a number of your clients will have an international dimension to their tax dealings. This webinar will take a practical approach in examining key tax considerations in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. It will help ensure that you are able to provide your clients with robust advice in this area.
In particular, this webinar will cover: does an estate tax apply? If so, what is its reach? Even if there is no estate tax as in Australia, what about other taxes such as capital gains tax? And, what are the New Zealand tax consequences of receiving a distribution from a deceased estate?
