From the Chair

As lawyers representing children we hold a privileged position – advocating for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

The last Lawyer for Child Intensive was in 2014. Since then the law has changed – and more changes are on the horizon. In processes with which we should be becoming familiar, research is ongoing. Our community itself continues to change and consequently societal expectations are changing. We need to keep up to date, not only to consider our modes of practice and to develop awareness of new insights but also to challenge ourselves to make appropriate adjustments.

For these excellent reasons, this intensive is to be held in Wellington this year on the 28th of May – it will be useful and provocative. So, join us to learn about and debate about how to improve our work as children's advocates. Extend your stay over the weekend to take advantage of all our capital has to offer, with or without our colleagues: dining, shopping, culture and the fabulous Wellington weather.

Chair: Usha Patel
