Errors in dealing with GST on property transactions are very common, and mistakes can be expensive and difficult to fix. Compulsory zero-rating of land has shifted the GST risk on land transactions away from Inland Revenue to the transacting parties. Several land GST cases (some involving Inland Revenue, some just between vendors and purchasers) have gone to court and many more are settled out of court. This seminar will adopt a practical focus in examining key potential pitfalls to avoid to help you mitigate against issues arising, and outlining steps that you can take to help protect your clients.

She has a particular interest in property transactions, and enjoys helping solve clients’ difficult GST problems. Catherine has a special interest in GST policy and legislative reform.

Eugen has significant experience with GST matters concerning all types of land and commercial transactions. He was involved in the design of the CZR rules and has advised officials, ADLSi, REINZ and the Property Valuers Institute of NZ on various GST matters. Eugen’s views are often sought on GST as it relates to land transactions, contractual issues as well as GST disputes. He thrives on finding effective solutions for his clients. Eugen has presented numerous GST seminars and brings much passion to each presentation.
