Bronze medal has beekeeper buzzing

Local bees and their keepers have been awarded a bronze medal at a recent national conference, despite being new-bees-on-the-block in the liquid gold trade.

Mangawhai-based Good & Gooey, owned by Richard Kidd, received third place for its lemon honey at the 2022 Apiculture New Zealand National Conference Awards, in the Product of the Hive category.

Naturally Richard is buzzing about the award saying it’s an amazing result for the brand since the company only launched in December 2021.

“Our award-winning lemon honey has the country’s best clover honey and the juiciest lemons possible, and blending them together makes a taste that goes great in everything from your toast, in a cup of tea or my family favourite weekend pancakes!” he says.

“The brand’s goal has always been to make honey fun, we want honey on everyone’s table, we want kids demanding their parents add it to every shopping list and we do this by having the best tasting honey possible.”
